AIBU?

To not want a hamster even though the Internet has decided a hamster I should have

Right. I know how cookies work, I know my devices can hear me. But for the love of Geoffrey can someone PLEASE tell me why Amazon, Facebook and pop up ads keep trying to advertise hamster cages and accessories.

All small children and large children have been queried about internet useage.

I've inspected search histories.

This household has done NOTHING to lead to hamster related items.

Well obviously I've googled since because I was curious about the hamster stuff.

Is there a sensible reason for this or have a fallen victim to a glitch in the shopping matrix?

You need a hamster. Or start googling something else til the ads disappear

I don't like hamsters. Probably, I'll be inundated with hamster stuff now I've said this.

It's a conspiracy. They only pretend to be cute.

I had a hamster and if anyone went near the cage it would stand up and scream.

It was adopted from pets at home. He didn't last long as he was really old but he had a right pair of lungs. Hated humans

I'd get eaten when I went to feed him or change bedding

You do NOT need a hamster, the world does not need blue hamsters.

I know you've grilled the children & their devices, but what about any other adults? There's some seriously deviant behaviour around!

😂

Go on Lovehoney once and you'll see their ads instead, until the end of fucking time.

Did not think of the neighbours.

I can rule out cunty parking neighbour, he's too selfish.

Odd neighbours have batshit cat and neurotic dog so don't strike me as in the hamster market.

Nice neighbour across the road is actively trying to rehome her toddlers regularly, often with a cash bonus so they're out as well.

Not sure how far the wifi goes

Was it the cat?

Batshit cat is a possibility .....she's very batshit.

She likes to visit us. She forgets about the Labrador that lives here Hmm

Has someone been searching for hamsters on a device not located in your house but with one of your accounts logged in? I've noticed things come up at home that I have searched for at work if I have had Gmail/Amazon logged in

It's easier just to do what the internet wants than put up with the badgering. How much bother can a hamster be? And think of all the cute outfits you can buy for it.

Amazon wants me to buy an onion bag - I didn't know there were such things, and I don't eat onions - but easier just to get one so they leave me alone. I'll cross out the word 'onion' written on the front and write 'potato' and all will be well

Hamster feet, Spam, really? A hitherto unmentioned dislike/phobia on Mumsnet. Congratulations, I thought we'd exhausted all the weird phobias but you just whipped that one out Grin
