We've just been talking about this and I thought that others might have some funny stories too.

I am very lucky to have a lovely dh who occasionally surprises me with romantic things but there have been a few occasions when all has not gone to plan.

When we were first together I still lived at home bad he was in a house share so getting the house to ourselves was a big deal.
One evening I arrived to find that he had cleaned the grubby, shared living room and kitchen and was busy lighting little greek coloured lights average house. He had also cooked from scratch. (something that remains quite unusual)
As it was a nice evening we went into the garden to eat and I tucked into my lovingly prepared chilli. It was DISGUSTING! Envy

Him- it's not very nice is it.
Me- it's erm fine
Him- no it's not and that garlic took me bloody ages to do.
Me- what do you mean?
Him- you know, peeling all that garlic......... two whole cloves
Me- (beginning inning to put two and two together) Confused Two cloves of garlic shouldn't take that long.

Yep, he had carefully peeled and chopped two full bulbs, not cloves of garlic and added them to the food.

Oh well, back into the house we go. Envy Envy My nose is suddenly hit with the most offensive, chemical, lemon type smell.
The candles had been left lit and the whole house now stinks of Citronella. He hadn't noticed the insect repellent symbol on the packaging.

But we're young and we have an empty house. Who needs food right? But as things start to heat up, I realise that a bit of me is also hearing up. In fact it's positively burning Blush Angry
You really should was your hands properly after chopping garlic and chillis!

Ouch. The worst night of my life was putting my crying wife into a bath and washing her "private parts" after we had got romantic after a meal I'd cooked. The meal contained lots of chillies.
If I chop chillies now I wash my hands and then rub my fingers on my eyes to make sure my hands are clean. Lesson learned and we can now, (ten years later) laugh about it.
