I really love the way my hairdresser cuts my hair, but don't like how she highlights my hair (and her prices are horrendous).
I can no longer afford to have the full works at her salon, even though I'd like to.

WIBU to go to her salon for the cut and use another, cheaper salon for my highlights?

How common is it to do this?
Or is it not the done thing?
I feel guilty and disloyal for some reason Hmm

A lot of people colour at home and get their hair cut at the hairdressers. I guess its the same thing. Be prepared for her to ask where you got your highlights done and why though!

If she asks about your highlights just say your friend does them at home.

Isn't it so weird that we feel a strange guilt towards our hairdressers and can't tell them if we go elsewhere. They're providing a service after all.

Anyhow, I used to do this. My hairdresser used to bleach my hair really well but she was shit at cutting. My other hairdresser was awesome at cutting but never got the colour how I wanted it.

I told my 'cutting hairdresser' that my friend was training and I said she could practise on me. She was pissed off and I don't think she believed me.

I told my 'colouring' hairdresser that I dyed it at home.

DH used to think it was crazy that I didn't just tell them the truth. But I couldn't Blush

Completely normal- lots of hairdressers only do cut or colour, not both. Only PITA is that you have to pay for a blowdry after your colour.

Can't you just get your cut and colour at the new place? It's often cheaper to get them done together.

No, because my usual hairdresser is amazing at cutting hair. The place I'm aiming to use for the colouring are a bit old fashioned with their cutting. I see a lot of women coming out with that awful severe (short in back, longer in front) bobs.
But I don't think they can mess colour up.

Cut is everything, right?
