AIBU?

Neighbour won't move car.

Our road is currently being resurfaced and everyone has had to put cars on drive or move them to another road so that work can be carried out.

There is one neighbour that hasn't moved his car the entire time so they have worked round him and this bit won't get done.

It has given me an irrational rage (Could be hormones) aibu or is he a twat for not moving the car?

Reading this back I probably sound deranged, I'm really not, but just move your car. If I was one of the workers I would lifted and moved it with one of the digger jobbies .

Do you know for sure he is actually there- not on holiday etc? They must have stuck notes on his car?

Is it the "resurfacing" where they just throw stones onto bitumen ? If so he's got the right idea. That will be the nicest part of the road for years to come.

He is there as saw him go out to work this morning. No they have dug all the road up so it is like the surface of the moon and are putting new tarmac down. Some other roads have been done already and nice and smooth not bitty or stony.

What an idiot. He is risking his car being damaged apart from anything else. There's always one.

When this was done on the roads around my old home, some people had read the notices (6mths notice as major work) and still didn't move their cars despite notices, letters and finally telephone contact. The council ticketed them as by giving notice they claimed that the owners had been notified that hey did not have the right to park there for those two days.

Have no idea why they didnt just remove his car and charge him for the cost. Lazy ignorant sod.

If he lived where I do, they would have come and took it on a tow truck and he would be paying £200 to get it back!

Surprised he's not been towed.

I'm surprised they are working round it, he's not parked on his own land, he's parked on the public road?

God that's so awkward. Why wouldn't he just move it ffs

He sounds like a bit of a numpty. The kind who will sue them if his car gets stonechipped...!

I'm surprised it hasn't been moved because our council are ruthless with traffic wardens etc. I did have a live chat with the council and they said there was nothing they could do.

Hi. This happened down our road and i phoned council and they arranged someone to come out and cover over the bit they originally worked around, once the stupid fucktard neighbour moved car

When our road was done they simply picked up any cars that were in their way and moved them down the road. I think they had a big vehicle with a huge magnet thingy but may have misremembered that.

I'm astonished the council say there's nothing they can do.

I would put pressure on the council. It is going to look terrible

Bluntness100 · 17/03/2017 11:43

Theee is something they can do and usually do, they tow the car.

I think so , there will just be this one but that stands out like a sore thumb. I might ring them instead.

The same thing happened in my town last year, the other residents got a bit of harmless revenge though!

Did you have plenty of notice? Our stupid council decided to resurface the road on a Saturday morning and put up the signs at 4.30pm the day before. They then appeared to be suprised that there were still cars in the road!

That happened when the road to DD's school was done. It got done eventually.

Go out and set fire to the car. You'll get off with it as you're hormonal, trust me. Grin

Oooohhh I bet your local paper would love a photo of you and your neighbours pointing to the nice shiny tarmac with sad Daily Mail faces about how it wasn't all done Grin

Where I live they wow the car to the nearest safe parking spot and get on with resurfacing the road

We had plenty of notice, rang the council and they said they couldn't do anything, they couldn't move it.

Have since been talking to the neighbours/bosom hoiking and it isn't the neighbour we thought but someone else and they think he has moved!

The car is taxed so nothing we can do, however do like the idea of setting it on fire not so much daily mail sad face as sadly I'm not very photogenic.
