AIBU?

Ovarian Drilling

I know this isn't an AIBU but posting here for traffic as I am having one of those nights where I'm working myself up with worry.

Has anyone had this done themselves? Was it successful and did you get pregnant? If so how long did it take? Plan for me would be to have it done (waiting list is 3 months apparently) and then start taking clomid again.

would really appreciate any advice

Yes I had it. Took clomid before and after. I had an ectopic pregnancy 7 months later and lost my one remaining Fallopian tube. Had successful IVF the year after that.

Had it, and I'd advise using another phrase, it's called ovarian diathermy which sounds far far less scary and is the correct term. Forget drilling, you'll freak yourself out. I did not get pregnant; but that means nowt to you - I just wanted to answer your question. When you've met one infertile woman, you met....One infertile woman...We are all different. Best of luck. The surgery isn't bad at all.

I had this back in 2000. It had a different name (laser diathermy) but was essentially the same. I had been TTC for 2 years at that point.
DC1 was born 2001, DC2 in 2003 and DC3 in 2006. A very good return IMHO.
Good luck, if you decide to go for it. It didn't really hurt, just a bit sore afterwards, if that helps. A quiet weekend and some ibuprofen and it was ok.

Yes. Had successful IUI a year later. It was painless and simple. It sounds horrendous from the name but it was untraumatic.

I had it and conceived DC1 using clomid within 4 months (clomid hadn't worked for me previously). Conceived DC2 entirely naturally when DC1 was 18mo.

The op itself is very straightforward, I was out of hospital that evening and had a few days recovery. Good luck.

I had it and successfully conceived almost immediately

Basically, I didn't have any non-medically induced periods after coming off the pill. I tried clomid but lower doses meant I still didn't ovulate and higher doses thinned out the lining so much that there was basically no chance of a successful pregnancy. After the drilling, I had a natural period within a few weeks and conceived that month. Unfortunately I had 2 very early miscarriages before it was determined that my progesterone levels were too low to sustain a pregnancy. However, I used progesterone suppositories to support my third pregnancy successfully. I had regular periods after the drilling and I fell pregnant naturally the 1st or second month of trying each time

After my eldest was born, I had regular periods and again fell pregnant very quickly when we decided to TTC again

Since my youngest were born I am still having regular periods so it's obviously done it's job. It's now been nearly 6 years since the operation

I had it in late January 2006. gave birth in late October 2006. My second child was conceived by accident 😀

I've had it done. Got pregnant 4 months later on clomid. Subsequently had 3 more children with no help and no trying!!

Had been trying for 3 years before that and clomid hadn't worked.
