Right job, wrong time

I currently live 100 miles from my hometown and I'm planning a move back in the summer.

I work in a niche industry and, although I've never struggled to find work, it is rare that something that fits my skill set comes along.

While doing some research, I found a job ad in my hometown which matches the exact skill set I have. I'm torn on whether I should apply for it, while letting them know I'm not available yet or whether to just let it pass me by. Should I apply or will I look silly?

What's stopping you from moving back early?

apply, what have you got to lose?

Be honest about when you could start.

Lots of jobs have a 3 month notice period.... doesn't that take you to this summer????

Right job, right place and by the time you have applied, been interviewed, worked your notice then it will be summer.Apply then make the decision if you get it.

Definitely apply! How long is the notice period on your current job?

By the time the interviews are out the way, it's surely going to be at least April. Then practically everyone has to give at least a month's notice (sometimes two or three), so at a minimum that's May. So they surely can't be expecting anyone to start before the beginning of June at the earliest.
