As quick as I am clearing out and tidying, another mess is appearing over my shoulder!!
The five year old hasn't spotted my diversion of some of her toys (ie tat) into a box for binning. AIBU to just chuck it when she's not looking? I did the boy's room and accidentally chucked some weird little creatures and then had to go through and fish the buggers out again when DH pointed out the were in fact a xmas gift and collectible.
I should just go for it shouldn't I?
I hate this, doing room creates rubbish I can't fit in the bin, and washing. Lots of washing :-D Please tell me I am not alone........
Good luck to all of you contemplating similar. May the force be with you!

I get mine to tidy every Friday morning 10 mins before school. I go in and set timer, take bin bag and allow them to throw any random paper and crap collected over the week, make sure any random clothes aren't tucked anywhere and help straight books etc. I check clothing fits, stuff in right places etc. Means no major clear up needed

I so wish I had kids that would tidy. To be fair we are in the process of setting up a 'kids room' and things have been up in the air for a while. I did the last major sort out before christmas and it just seems as bad!
I'm not tough enough on them am I?
Right. THIS time once it's done they WILL keep it tidy!!

I did this during the Christmas holidays and regretted it instantly. We are moving house this weekend so living in an absolute shit pit right now. Stuff everywhere! But it's a good excuse for a clear out. Chuck anything that isn't used!

Throw them out! My dd is nearly 8 and so should be perfectly capable or sorting her own room, but it got to the point where you couldn't walk without it being a hazzard so I have been doing the odd hour here and there over he last few days - 4 bin bags later and she has carpet again! I haven't told her all that I've thrown out as they were either broken or hadnt been touched in a year...
