AIBU?

To think you don't take in a parcel for neighbours if you're going away

5 days they've had my parcel. I went round three hours after the courier left a card and they weren't in. No signs of life in the house since. No lights on at night, curtains remain open, no bin out today on bin day.

I know it's my fault I missed the parcel and I'm grateful they took it but really if they're not home I'd rather they'd have said they weren't going to be home and then have the parcel returned to depot.

I know it could be an emergency, I guess I'm being a bit unreasonable. But still. Annoying!

They should have just let the postman redeliver it!

Argh this would annoy the hell out of me too.

It's annoying when postie takes it back to sorting office as their hours are crap but quicker than your neighbour!

YANBU

Meh, they probably just took it in a hurry and didn't think it through. Use a delivery option such as using a local shop if you go out a lot.

They might not have had a choice.

I've known couriers leave a parcel by the door, ring the bell and leg it.

The neighbours may have opened the door when the doorbell went and just found it there.

It's happened to us including one day when we were going on holiday and DP had to go and deliver it (wasn't even for anyone in our road!!)

They definitely would have had a choice, apparently it needed a signature (no idea why it was sent signed for it's not valuable)

I should have been in but I had gone out for ten minutes to pick up my son and they came in that small window typically.

It's been a week now and I still don't have it 🙄
