any other recommendations. can't see the hygienest for 2 weeks :(

also i am 31 weeks pregnant. any other recommendations for pain relief or treatment?
TIA

Have you been checked out?

I would suggest cordosyl, but also recommend if you haven't, getting the Dr's to have a quick look. Why are you brushing 3 times a day?

It might be you inflict the bleeding yourself by brushing and flossing extensively, if you're anything like me at least. Try cordosyl and skip the brushing for a day to see if it heals. My dentist says brushing twice a day is enough. Also, check your toothbrush it should be extra soft, the "extra" is important. If you use an electric toothbrush that's even better, I dare not mention any specific makes, but there's one I find particularly good. It has the letter B in its name.

My hygienist recommends a waterpik flosser filled with half non alcohol mouthwash and half water. She diagnosed me with the same a few weeks ago although my symptoms were very mild. She inserted antibiotic powder between my teeth and gums at 10 points round my mouth (not pleasant but did the trick), said it was too far gone to use just mouthwash. I'm in the USA so things might be different but you have my sympathies.

Having said that, gun infections can spread and be serious, can you not get an emergency appointment any sooner?

Pregnancy has made my periodontitis worse too. I use cordosyl and floss with the little brushes. I dip the brush in the cordosyl before flossing each tooth.
Gets rid of any gum pain for me.

Sympathies OP. I have had this and it is an absolute bastard hurts like hell. What has your Dentist said? I'm aware your pregnant but the only thing that shifted mjne along with the intense brushing was two lots of abs at the same time prescribed by my dentist. Amoxycillin and metranidazole. I know the latter is safe to take in pregnancy as the only other time I've had metranidazole was when I was on an antenatal ward in hospital for a bad infection.

Use Bonjela on your gums too, it helps. Feel better soon OP. Flowers

I'd try and get an emergency appointment with an OOH dentist this weekend tbh. Especially with you being pg.

In my case it was an infected tooth that had spread to my gums.

Have you tried salt water? It may help
Also my dentist told me to stop using corsodyl and switch to the new listerine gum health mouthwash (it also tastes nicer 😊)
Try ringing the emergency dentist as well, get it seen to xx

It's a very long thread, but I posted this and now it's has become a really useful conversation: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/2805601-Periodontal-disease-Stage-4-Anyone-able-to-recover-from-this

Extra brushing won't work as well as using interdentals and floss does. Do you use those too? I also have a waterpik.

You can also buy tablets that show how much plaque is on your teeth / left over after brushing. I find these so useful to know whether or not I've done a good job.

Do go as and see the hygienist soon as you can though!

I was prescribed antibiotics and was breastfeeding and they were fine.

Not much I can recommend for pain relief since you're pregnant though. But better to deal as much as you can now - I started when my DC was 5-weeks-old, which was hard.

Update. My gums feel a lot better now. Went for a check uo and dentist said to carry on doing wjat i am doing and book a hygeniest. But had midwife today and she said baby is a bit small but with the 3 cm range but she wants to see me for a growth check in 2 weeks.

Do you think my gums are the reason why? She has made me worry now. But i think she is measuring me as 32 weeks. But i am only just 31 weeks on sunday. :s

My 2 ds were right on track. Ds1 was born on due date. 3.5kilos and ds2 was born 12 days early and was just over 3 kilos.

So now i am worrying about my little girl
