To want to start Irish dancing

I love Celtic music and dance and would like to start going to some classes. The classes local to me have children aged 5-18 and any adults either help out or are very advanced. Aibu to go in as a novice ? I don't want to look silly and I know I will have to wait a bit before I can compete. I would like to hear any success stories of starting a dance class as an adult
