6 year old DS has been unwell for around 6 weeks now. He's pale and lethargic and has stomach problems. We saw his GP on 28th December who said that he wasnt overly worried but due to family history he would refer him as a non urgent referral to the hospital. He expected by the time the referral came through DS would be back to normal anyway.
DS is not back to normal, he's worse and it's effecting his schooling. Yesterday I took him back to the Drs. Despite asking for a dr we saw a nurse (no disrespect to nurses they do a fantastic job, however I wanted DS to see a dr). Anyway the nurse didn't even look at him, just said as he's under the care of the hospital it's for them to assess him at his appointment. She said she couldn't see that the referral had been sent off but she would check with the secretary and call me back that afternoon.
I didn't receive a telephone call so today I went into the surgery and was informed that the dr is on annual leave and the secretary will remind him once he returns on Monday. AIBU to be upset that it's taken so long? DS is getting worse and they won't see him at the Drs as he's been referred to hospital, except it hasn't been sent off yet. I really want to complain but I'm not sure if I'm overreacting as I'm so worried about DS? I realise that these things take time and Drs have holidays etc but poor DS looks so ill.
