cheap little cars/motorbikes on special offer in Morrisons are a pile of CR*P?? Is it so wrong to at least expect something that will last more than 5 minutes????

Took DS2 into town today - had lunch in the Cafe at Morrisons, dragged him him into town round Wilkinsons, stood in the queue for ages in the post office and then dragged him back round Morrisons (it's on the way home) to do some shopping.

Just as we were finishing up he spotted the little toy Motorbikes for 89p or 2 for £1.50 and asked - really nicely - if he could have one "and one for DS1 too" (his words).

I duly put 2 in the basket. We've not been home long - he's been playing with his motorbike next to me and the front wheels have already snapped off . Now it's something I can fix........once I can get hold of some superglue - but I've got one really upset little 3yr old here and I'm ........I know it was cheap - but am I being unreasonable to expect something that will at least last for the afternoon????

No you aren't unless it's for an older age group who can be expected to be more careful.

TBH I would expect it to last at least ... a week?

I've just double checked the box and it says 3yrs+ on it - so right age range - and DS2 was playing so nicely with it too .

You are being perfectly reasonable. That's crap.

the DS's have got more 'play' out of a the freebie McDonalds toys.......oops sorry yes I've just admitted we go to McD's......but at least their toys withstand more than just a couple of minutes play.

If it wasn't for the fact that I'm busy for the rest of the day I'd be going back and complaining .

it'll cost you more in superglue than to buy another one!

this is my secret theory. the pound shop make money by selling crap goods that break and anyone is too embarrassed to take back, so they buy another one ...not that i shop in there a lot of course...erm..honest. therefore, i never really expect cheap things to last..annoying but true.

yes but this wasn't the £1 shop it was Morrisons - where we've usually been fairly successful in the purchashing of little toy cars and motorbikes. It's making me so to see DS2's little fact all disappointed when I bought him this as a treat for being so well behaved - most of their cars/bikes/etc etc are cheapy ones and most of them last.......

i know it was morrisons and its annoying but chances are if its replaced the next one will be exactly the same. if you're going to complain just get your money back and get him something else..but thats not going to make him feel better right now unfortunately.

See it as a teachable moment. Take car back, get 1.50 back and next time he asks for something you can remind him of crap car.

Maybe you'll get away with never buying another piece of crap again.

I learnt this last year, will never buy again, instead buy the hotwheels cars they have in their shops occasionally(or their colourful assortmant of straws-ds1 loves those!
