On a bank holiday.
We generally park on single yellow lines on a Sunday and DP maintained that you can also do so on a bank holiday as it is classed as a Sunday?
We return to the car to find we have a parking ticket. So it would appear that bank holiday is not classed as a sunday after all. We were not the only idiots as the whole road was full of cars. There are no other restrictions on this road and we have parked there for many years with no incident.
DP raving on mansplaining how bank holiday is or at least should be the same as a Sunday and that he is going to contest it. I say, "I didn't realise/understand" is not an adequate defence and just pay the fucking fine within 14 days so as to avoid it being double.
Get home and he "asks google" and google confirms that he is indeed correct, but in the city of Westminster (we have parked in London on many occasion on single yellows - no ticket!)
Our local council website doesn't state anywhere clearly what the situation is, had to download the whole regulations for the area and about to wade through it now.
The bloody annoying thing is that we would have parked at the other side of town and walked through and it was about the same distance to walk.
It would seem others were under the same impression.
What is your council policy?
I reckon we will end up having to pay and fair enough, but we clearly weren't the only ones and I can't believe about 20 people were daft enough to take a chance.
