Having to que to exit a shop?

Went shopping today in a well known homeware shop today, was only having a look and DD2 was in her buggy. After I had been round I went towards the exit to find it had changed slightly. You can go straight out the exit if you don't have trolley or pushchair or wheelchair, but otherwise there is a bollard to prevent anything wider than a person getting out, and you have to go through the que to pay.
Couldn't get out the entrance as the sensor was on the outside as tried that as well. I asked a member of staff who said you need to go through the que to exit. This meant I had to ask about a dozen shoppers who were paying for stuff to excuse me as a got my buggy through the narrow space, trying not to bump legs etc.
AIBU to expect to be able to leave a shop easily as I wasn't buying anything? This is new to this shop in the last couple of weeks. Before it was fine. I don't think any other shops I've been in has this.

B&q, homebase, home bargains are all like this (well the ones near me at least). So annoying. They don't even have a bit just for people to leave with a bollard. It's such a nuisance.

This annoys me SO MUCH in places like aldi, home bargains, b & m etc. the only way out is to go through the tills, and any not in use have belts across to stop you using it. You inevitably have to squeeze past those queuing and half the time they are stood right in the middle, no room to pass and ignore you when you say "excuse me can i pass you".

i wouldn't bother shopping there tbh unless absolutely had to or try to go when shop is quieter.

If it's a busy shop I would just wait by the entrance for someone to come in. If it's quiet then it's a pain!!

I think shops do it deliberately to get you to buy something so that you can leave easily.

Why do stores insist on those stupid belts? A local Sainsburys near me as two entrances. I often come in from the car park and don't want to walk all the way to the other end of the store to get in. So I have to duck under the belt across the cash desk. It's so annoying.

If you have a buggy or wheelchair I'd ask someone to escort you so that they can ask everyone to get out of your way. You should not need to do the asking - they've created the situation, they can deal with it.
