still hurting 15 days after a bad extraction. Lower pre-molar wouldn't budge, and dentist spent 30 minutes pulling, pushing and tugging. Then the top half of the tooth popped off, the dentist giving my upper teeth an almighty clang with her instruments. Further 15 mins of pulling, pushing and tugging on the roots before I said I'd had enough. The whole thing was very traumatic, and not much support from either the dentist or her assistant.
Although the pain has lessened, I still have a deep crevice in my gum, bits of root sticking out and pain. Even my face hurt this morning when putting on my moisturiser!
For full disclosure I have been back twice complaining of the pain, and was given painkillers, mouthwash and an anaesthetic spray on prescription once, and some kind of oil of cloves dressing the second time. I have been using the painkillers every day apart from yesterday, and the cloves worked for one day. I have to go back to our dental hospital to get the roots extracted, but this could be months. The other option is to get an implant, when the roots would be removed at the same time.
As well as pain from the site, my upper teeth still feel sensitive, and the tooth forward of the site is wobbly (to my mind) and sensitive to the slightest touch. Dentist says all this is normal and will fade.
AIBU to be annoyed or is this par for the course? Should I do anything else?

Poor you! Why on earth did she not do a surgical extraction? 
I went to our dentists a couple of years ago to have a damaged, dying molar removed (I was seen on the day after phoning in desperation). The dentist - not my regular - numbed me to the hilt then spent a minute or two tugging (it did feel at some point as if he would pull my head off). He then shook his head and set about performing a surgical extraction. It involved cutting into the gum and breaking the tooth and roots up piecemeal - the roots were growing at an awkward angle. I was awake but well numbed, so pain free. Afterwards had a couple of stitches but needed no more than cocodamol then paracetamol for a few days. Oh, and he did take Xrays beforehand.
Your treatment sounds well out of order. I second changing dentist if you can. I hope your pain subsides ASAP. 
Sounds horrific. And I really wish I hadn't opened it - I have two impacted wisdom teeth. I regularly salt water rinse my mouth to keep infections at bay as I cannot face the dentist taking them out 
Hope it all settles down quickly. and that you see a different dentist next time
