To ask what a helicopter parent/daughter is?

Or someone who phones the teacher every few days about minor stuff

Someone who would phone a tutor for an adult child

Someone who hovers over their kid and makes a lot of decisions and never lets them resolve a problem by themselves.
In my day it was called mollycoddling and pushy parenting.

A helicopter parent is one that hangs over their child in case their special snowflake gets bumped, or dirty, or any other thing that a normal healthy child needs to find out by herself. Not sure about helicopter daughter - a clingy child?

It is only helicoptering if the child doesn't need the hovering or extra assistance and it can be difficult for bystanders to tell.

Not very new. There is a Simpson's episode where Homer starts helicopter parenting, that must be 10 years old!

I am a helicopter parent, but it is through necessity not choice, my DC have SNs, but other parents wouldn't necessarily know...unless l didn't helicopter for a while...

ok so dd falls if you leave her. looks bonkers letting my littlest swing round the climbing frame like a monkey, while underneath dd nervously...

sometimes I follow ds round the park. this is generally for the protection of the general public if his autism is getting a bit... erm out of hand and we need to make a swift exit. and he is carried out kicking and screaming while trying to attack dd/me
