AIBU?

To think boiled eggs have a right way up?

They should have the pointier end facing up.

I'm right, aren't I?

Dh just plonks them in the egg cup any old way and says it doesn't matter.

Can I kill him?

YANBU. Pointed end is the top. Other way up is just wrong.

Ltb! How has he got to adulthood with that lack of knowledge? Grin

Shock that's so wrong!

They fought a war over this in Gulliver's Travels.

I always break the pointy end.

I like the fat end at the top personally; but yeah you can kill him for being so slapdash.

What is wrong with him!!! LTB!!!

You're right. It's easier to start at the fat end to peel a hard boiled egg, but completely and unforgivably wrong if they're soft boiled and in an egg cup.

Actually I prefer pointy end down if it's a soft boiled egg with soldiers......

Absolutely, fat end at the bottom. It's like opening a packet of crisps upside down, wrong!

Pointy end down so I can have a bigger opening to dip my soldiers (of bread and butter) into.

Ahh the Little-Endian VS Big-Endian debate.

I am a Little-Endian.

There have been times I've had a very oval egg though, and I've spent a disproportionate amount of time ensuring I got it right.

This. The rest of you are weirdos.

I used to believe pointy end should be at the top but someone told me the yolk tends to go towards the fat end so it's better for dipping to have the fat end up! Means you don't have to chop off half the egg or burrow through white yolk to get to the good stuff 😂

Pointy end. Ffs. Bet he hangs the loo roll with the loose end at the back as well. Criminal!

Pointy end up, but sometimes I like a little rebellion with my breakfast and break convention with the pointy end down. It's deliberate though, never slapdash.

He does as well!

I despair.

Johnathon swift wrote extensively about it but yes bottom up for better access by soldiers...

I don't eat boiled eggs - in fact couldn't cook them until I was in my 20s (in my defence I could cook other things) - but even I know they have a right and a wrong way! No alternative but to LTB!

Another Little-Endian here.

I'd LTB if DH hung the loo roll wrong way round. Thankfully he doesn't. But he does have a bad habit of not changing it, and leaving one little square hanging there.

I had no preference for loo roll suspension until my husband said it really bothered him and could I hang it with the loose end on the outside.

It does look better like that, but it gave me unsettling thoughts about Sleeping With The Enemy.

At least he doesn't insist on it being folded into a little point.

He also goes into a frenzy if he breaks a fried egg in the pan. If I offer to have that one he spits: 'No. You'll have the perfect one.'

I prefer to see it as love. It's too worrying to think of it in any other way.
