To ask this of the window cleaner

In the grand scheme of things this is only a minor issue but I'm wondering if I am expecting too much of my window cleaner.

Whilst he was here this week I asked if he could clean the velux windows. He was on the roof at the time cleaning the bedroom windows and asked what they were . I said the one's that you're standing next too. He replied that he doesn't do them and so I asked if he could. He said it would be extra and begrudgingly did them.

On his way out he left my bins pulled out across my driveway.

AIBU to think that a window cleaner should clean the window's and finish the job off properly by putting my bins back.

But Velux windows are windows are they not? YANBU. Next time get a quote for the house including those.

YANBU if he pulled the bins out to get up his ladder. Mine never knocks first and I never know when he is coming. I have roller blinds upstairs and have had a couple of surprises when his face appears at the window luckily I was fully clothed!!

My window cleaner has to come inside to clean the velux Windows. Was it more dangerous for him to reach them? YANBU but when I find a window cleaner ( around me they are a rare and elusive species) I do show them all the windows first to get an accurate quote.

He should replace the bins but it's hardly difficult to do yourself, that's probably just him having mentally moved on to the next job.

Yes he pulls them out to open the side gate.

The windows are on the extension roof, which he walks across on to do the bedroom windows.

He used to leave them out previously and DH asked him to put them back....so he started to leave them out on purpose as he knew it annoyed me (he told DH he was doing that and thought it was really amusing ....)

If he's petty enough to do things he knows annoy you then IMO he doesn't really need the work or he'd be a bit better at not annoying his customers.

Plenty more window cleaners out there, I'd find another

Is there another window cleaner in your area? If so go to them. If not, YANBU but not a lot you can do. He is being a dick and not doing his job properly re: the bins and I'd be especially pissed off at him trying to give it 'all men together' with my dh and ignoring me.

He is a bit of a wally. He is one of the types who talks the talk.....but doesn't actually deliver (has grand plan's for his future career but at over 50yrs I think he is running out of time really to start a new business from scratch)

My mum was most gobsmacked when he refused to do them and the fact that he used windowlene and not water.

Definitely a "You're fired!" If your DH has already asked him and he continues plus he sounds unreasonable. Oh and all decent window cleaners use water!

Him leaving bins out is not a big problem but him doing it to annoy you is twatty.

Well.... he hasn't been back for payment.

He usually comes on a Friday evening but it's likely that neither of us will be home.

DH also doesn't want to have to deal with him as it was my decision to let him go so I have sent him a text asking for his bank details and I will transfer payment.

Not heard back from him as yet.

We have the least enterprising window cleaners ever. It took three phone calls to get them to clean our windows - the people we bought from used them; why they didn't just call round when they did next door, I don't know. It took them three months to get round to bringing the equipment to clean the filthy orangerie roof - which they charge a lot extra for. I have now asked twice that they clean a specific window which requires a long pole as they never have the bloody long pole with them when they do the windows here and next door. I'm not holding my breath, but if they don't clean the bloody thing next time I'm going to find someone else.
