AIBU?

To wonder if this was gnomes or elves?

Where we used to live there was a gap in a big hedge. It was only really big enough for a small child to fit in.

Every single time we walked past it there were different miniature bottles of alcohol lying empty in it. Just three or four.

Every time. And definitely different bottles. For five years.

My theory is that it's some alcoholic gnomes who gather there for a party.

I literally can't think of a rational explanation. It's bugged me forever.

Any clue, wise MNers?

True.

I wish I'd taken a picture. I might go back there to see if they're still at it.

Well it certainly wasn't Brownies, because they would have tidied up.

More likely to be hobgoblins ime, nasty rowdy fuckers they are.

Maybe a Womble down on their luck?

Orinoco would be my guess Grin

Nothing wrong with squeezing yourself into a hedge and downing a few minature creme de menthes. I've done it for years.

Depending on where you live in the country, it could well be pixies. Or piskies, for the intiated Wink

acasualobserver - I really enjoy your posts. Grin

They genuinely make me laugh out loud .

Anyway, back to the OP.

Lewis - I think it sounds like something Orcs would do but they're too big.

Alcoholic gnomes sounds about right. Miserable buggers.

I think it was probably Windy Miller. He was often partial to a drop of cider. After fame and fortune left him and the wind was taken out of his sails he moved onto the hard stuff. Fact.

It's got to be some kind of small mythical creature, hasn't it? There really is no other explanation.
