It's highly likely she will be absolutely fine. If it starts to escalate, I imagine the holiday company will get all of their customers out ASAP, but there's no reason to think that holidaymakers are in any danger. It appears to be a low level military coup; they will have no interest in harming any non-political civilians.

Has she contacted you yet? Have you tried phoning her?

Very likely to be fine at the moment. the new reports are that the internet and social media have been shut down. The Turkish President was on holiday in Bodrum. He has probably be moved for his own safety.

Which resort is she in?

I have Turkish colleagues and haven't had a response to an email I've sent

If she's not in Istanbul or Ankara she should be fine. Curfews seems to be in place so most ordinary people will be ok. I know it's tough, but try not to worry x

Internet in Istanbul is working at the mo to people I know. I've heard Ankara is down though.

Assuming she's on holiday it's likely to be a resort and she'll be fine.

Even if she's in Istanbul or Ankara, the army are telling people to get off the streets, so hopefully she'll be able to do that.

Erdogan just done a FaceTime interview with CNN Turk, it looks like he's talking from a cupboard!

My MIL is at her apartment in Marmaris (she lives there for 9 months of the year) and is abs fine and not worrid at all if that helps? My DH just FaceTimed her to check she's not concerned.

Like others assuming she's in a tourist resort she is very likely to be ok.

Have you tried calling? Just a brief call to put your mind at rest.

She probably doesn't even know anything is going on. The resorts are a little world in themselves and miles away from Istanbul and Ankara

There's been a military coup. The President has been removed for his own safety and there's curfews etc in place.

OP, I've got people on my FB on holiday in Marmaris and Bodrum and they only found out from conversations happening around them. No-one at the resorts seemed bothered.
