AIBU to think DDs clothing should last longer?

She is 8 and wears holes in the knees of everything or gets caught on tree branches. Or she falls over in mud and that stains.

I'm sick of it! She will only wear leggings, joggers, shorts and t shirts. I buy them as thick as I can find....dark colours...but some things last ONE WEAR before they're ruined.

I sometimes send her out to play in holey leggings just because at times, she's literally got one good pair left.

She goes to a school with no school uniform (not in UK) and so her clothes do get more wear I suppose.

I buy things and say "That's just for school" but the same thing happens there! It's a forest type school with tonnes of trees and climbing and den building is encouraged...all good but I keep thinking I'm going to have to start buying men's workwear and taking them in and up!

I see other kids in her class who wear more fragile skirts or dresses and leggings and they're not covered in mud and holes!

What can I put her in that will last!?

Will she wear jeans? I lived in jeans as a child. Proper jeans not that thin stretchy shite they have nowadays. Still ended up with holes but it was after months of tree dwelling rather than days.

She spunds very similar ti my DD her jeans last anout three month before she has holes in her knees, her leggings di fat have haf no holes but she wears jeans mire often , no school uniform either. Jeans are hardier than leggings but I have started sending her to school wih jesns with holes it is too expensive otherwise.

Ok, so I have boys but they sound the same. No school uniform here either.

Tbh, I've just given up. I've stopped buying new clothes and now just get bundles cheap/free off FB pages and they wear those. They've both got joggers with holes in the knees that they still wear to school. I'm now in the mindset of if it's clean it's fine, even if there are stains and holes.

They have a couple of nice outfits for the times we need them but they are hung and put out of reach just in case they find themselves on a body when they're not supposed to be.

We have ours (boy and girl) in proper jeans/ dungarees or corduroy mostly, shorts (denim if we can find any) in the summer (so knees get muddy rather than leggings being ripped) and have over trousers (thick lined.plastic) for wet weather, ski suits when its cold.
Mine are younger though so I can dress them how I like without arguments from them.

I would put patches on the knees, and who cares if things are srained as lobg as they are clean.

I should have said, she won't wear jeans at all. Not even the type with elastic waists. :(

I think it's a case of doing what Delta does and accept that she's a kid who'se going to be wearing holey clothes unless it's "for best"

It's the school issue really. They don't let them wear things with holes or stains...it actually says that in the guidelines...I might look in the boys sections for joggers with reinforced knees...and get some patches!

school must be lovely. amd I'm. Sure they realise that it's the activities causing the holes not neglectful parenting.

Thanks Giles school IS lovely....she just looks like nobody owns her when I collect her!
