AIBU to go for this job?

I've been invited for an interview next Wednesday. The job is very similar to the one I do now - same money but much closer to home so would save me over an hour each day commuting. I think I have a good chance at being successful based on what they want and what I've got.

It's a large department and my step-MIL works there (in what would be a much lower position). Her and FIL are currently in process of separating and when they do we will have NC with step-MIL (she's been a cow toward by DH since he was a kid). She has an issue I've applied for the job and even more-so that I've been shortlisted (I haven't actually told her - she told FIL including telling him how much I earn from my application form who told my DH as she has access to the information breach of data protection.

An opportunity for a job that pays the same as I currently earn so close to home is unlikely to come again for years (I've been waiting 2 years for a job at this particular place to come up!). I don't particularly care about the split or how she feels she cheated but DH thinks it will make things messy and awkward. I think I'm perfectly capable of being professional at work and if she feels awkward it's not my problem.

WIBU to still go for the interview?

Go for it. You can't put life on hold for someone else. Good luck!

go for it. my only worry would be that she would try and make life difficult for you, but assuming your roles are not going to have much cross over then I am sure that can be managed.

I would be wanting HR to be aware of her breach (post job-offer) because I would be worried she might do the same again!

good luck

Her breach of the DPA is fucking outrageous and I do hope you'll find a way to inform her employers of that whatever the outcome of your application.
Good luck if you do decide to go for it!
