To expect dental hospital to sort my tooth out?

Have been seeing a dentist at our local dental hosp after being referred for jaw joint issues.
About 6 months ago I was fitted with a hard mouth guard to help with jaw problems/night clenching which was too tight and caused my front bottom tooth to become very painful. I was told the guards could cause some discomfort so I used it for about a week but the front tooth was so sore I stopped using it. I called dental hosp and was messed around for ages until finally getting an appointment months later.
Went back and dentist said the tooth was still viable when he did a cold sensitivity test so the tooth isn't dead. I've been back to my own dentist and a private dentist and they've just done an x-ray and said it's probably just a sprained ligament and my tooth root on that tooth is very close to another one but done nothing.
6 months I've been in pain now and no one seems to want to help me. I'm not due in with dental hosp again for a month and my own dentist isn't interested.
Wanting to rip out my own front tooth at this point. Any advice?

Dental pain is awful, and difficult to ignore. I don't know what you should do but you have my sympathies.

Thanks decaff. I called hosp again to try and get them to bring appointment forward but got the usual answer of leaving a message for the secretary to review blah blah blah. Bloody tooth! I may need a medicinal glass of wine.

I suffer from clenching and grinding and wear an NTI brace.

Mine fits over my top four front teeth. Stops the grinding because your teeth no longer rub together and your brain won't allow you to bite down using your front teeth.

For me it means no more headaches. I've stopped any further damage to my teeth and my jaw joint.

My dentist prefers to fit these type rather than traditional guards. Could you ask about these?

Thanks Ida! I'll be looking into that. I'm thinking of changing dentists as mine is pretty much sick of the sight if me and I feel uncomfortable going now so I might have luck elsewhere. Do you mind if I ask if you paid privately for yours or if it was available on nhs?

Not all dentists fit them. You might have to phone around. Teaching hospital???

Sorry, should RTFT - you are under a dental hosp. I'd mention the NTI and see what they say.

Tooth pain is the WORST :( I'd be making a dr app and saying you have an appointment but they can't see u earlier, and ask for decent pain killers.

I have the top type of this provided by my dentist.
It clips to my two front teeth and does seem to help

My dentist is private and says, if you are going private, Denplan Plus (it is the plus that is the important bit) dentists are worth looking at as they offer a wide range of services at high standards

My dentist has just told me about a new device coming out for TMJ issues called Cerezen which are little inserts to go in the ears. Sounds weird but, apparently, sounds impressive if mouth guards don't work
