AIBU to be expected to drive on the path?

Am I? About once or twice a week I find myself in the situation where I have right of way, but a car on the other side of the road (often driving too fast), and with parked cars on their side, will point to the path so that I can make way for them. I mean WTF? No one really wants to reverse but is it acceptable to wait and point to the path and/or force a stand off? It's been universally women, residential areas of a city.

KP86 - I think if the obstruction is on their side (ie parked cars) they are expected to wait for a clear right side of the road (not force cars on the other side off onto the path).

Of course they should wait if their side of the road is obstructed by parked cars. But they don't. I'll probably get flamed, but my experience has been that those who simply push their way through are often van drivers, I get that they have deliveries to make and timescales to adhere to. I also get that the vans belong to the company, so not their pride and joy, but I often feel intimidated by some of these people who are just not prepared to wait.

Some years ago, a small lorry travelling in the opposite direction, took out my wing mirror and the side of the car because he couldn't judge the distance with parked cars on his side of the road. I couldn't mount the kerb because it was a really high one. The lorry belonged to a local garden centre and it cost them quite a bit to sort my car out.

People are meant to use indicators, not stop in box junctions and generally not be a cock but it very rarely happens.

This happens to me almost every morning on my way to work. They pull out around parked cars and expect me to scrape my alloys on the kerb getting out of their way. I like to hold my line. It frightens the shit out of them. 😈
