To ask how I can get this medicine into dd

Blatantly posting for traffic as I'm getting desperate
DD (5) has ASD and she currently has tonsillitis.
She will only eat
Toast
Butter
Pasta
Pasta Sauce
Sausage
Crisps
Breadsticks
Pizza
and will only drink water

She's been prescribed antibiotics and the pharmacist and doctor have agreed I can break the capsules and just give the powder from inside the capsules to her rather than the entire capsule ifswim (syrup is no chance as it is sweet flavoured and sweet flavoured anything is a massive no no) she wont be getting the full dose this way but they kinda said there was little other choice.

I mixed the powder into some butter today as suggested by pharmacist and put on her toast I tasted a tiny bit too see if it was obvious I couldn't taste a thing. Gave it to dd who tasted it took it straight to the bin threw it and started to eat her db's toast.
I've tried diluting in lots and lots of water but she could taste it (again I couldn't)

Does anyone have a magic way of getting this medicine into dd?
I tried just squirting it in last night with a syringe but she only saw the syringe and started vomiting then clamped her mouth shut.

If it helps with suggestions she wont eat or drink anything sweet so she wont have
yoghurt, smoothies, juice, ice cream, rice pudding or anything like that so I'm hoping someone on mnet is a medicine fairy and can help me with some ideas of how to get her to take this?

Oh in case it makes a difference she is non verbal and her understanding is quite basic too so I can't really reason with her or bribe her...(tried that one too)

You need to disguise it in the strongest flavour that she will eat - butter is too bland. Looking at her list of foods, I'd guess it would be pasta sauce or sausage. You could make a hole in the sausage and shove the powder from the capsule inside.

Oh you poor thing. Sounds like a nightmare. I agree with the sausage idea.

OR a lot of people swear by suppositories if you think this would be somehow possible. But get the pharmacist's advice!

What sort of pizza is it? Powder mixed into the sauce under cheese?

To me the obvious one on your list is pasta sauce do I would try hiding it in that. Otherwise maybe you could hide it between the cheese and the bread base on pizza?

I also think it's a volume thing in the sense that if her tastebuds are that sensitive you need to hide it in the strongest flavoured and largest portioned item, so for me the pasta sauce would be the way to go.

Ok looks like we're on sausage pasta tonight (and the next 5 days if it works) it's such a nightmare with medicines if you don't dilute them enough she can tell if I dilute them too much she risks not eating the full amount as she hasn't got the best appetite anyway.

I'll just have to try and judge the pasta right and hope she doesn't taste it. I tried some in pizza about half an hour ago in the tomato dressing but she could tell. So I've got pasta cooking away at the moment (Why can't they invent flavourless meds) I checked if they did any antibiotic suppository's but doctor said they didn't (If someone invents these they'll be a millionaire)

I've already wasted 4 of the tablets too and not managed to get a single dose inside her, hopefully the doctor will be ok about re prescribing I did warn her she would probably have to until I came up with a tactic so hopefully sausage in pasta sauce is it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think the gravy / Marmite will work because its the wrong colour. Sauce has to be red or the world will end and pasta has to be penne because any other shape just tastes wrong.

I also have child with asd getting recurrent tonsilitis.
I used to be able to hold him down and syringe it in and a sweetie after.
Now in spite of sweetie he just spits it out again. It's very hard. I tried mixing it with everything.
We've resorted now to the 'arse medicine' as we call it... ....well for the calpol anyway.
I try to avoid the antib if I can.
But antib should be invented so they can be given in the bum.
Have they been invented?

Metronidazole isn't the right antibiotic for tonsillitis unfortunately. Most antibiotics cannot be given as suppositories.

Thru absolutely can do antibiotic suppositories - ask any French mumsnetter!

Better than IVs which I can imagine would also be a complete nightmare.

Lurking I know I tend to find a few doctors who get hysterical about suppositories too. They tend to be a bit more junior though, I had a nightmare a few months ago - took dd to hospital as I'd literally run out of ways to get calpol into her, we were away from home staying with pil and had used our emergency PR paracetamol already (we had one left over from a previous illness).

Her temperature was 41'c the windows and doors were all open and her temperature wouldn't budge. We phoned gotodoc but got sent to a&e the doctor insisted that the paracetamol had to be given orally despite me saying i'd been trying for 6 hours.

The nurses told me they'd manage it better because 'they weren't as soft as mummies' One nurse held dd while another tried to open her mouth it was awful she was only 4 at the time. I felt like I'd betrayed her so much putting her in that position.
I ended up complaining because she got a faint bruise on her cheek where her mouth had been held pinched open.

But it kinda happened in a such whirlwind I felt so awful for not stopping it before it happened. They just came in and attacked before I realised what was happening I obviously told them to get their hands off DD.
DD them promptly projectile vomited over both of them because she could smell the calpol I have to say I didn't want her to be sick but I was pretty pleased it was over them because they genuinely deserved it

They then decided to give her a suppository and thankfully and on return home I found a doctor in my surgery who's son has ASD and told her what had happened so she was outraged on my dd's behalf and has prescribed paracetamol suppositories for us for her tonsillitis but she did say the antibiotic was a no.

Weirdly my brother lives in France and he says that suppositories are just the norm until 5 years old there no one bats an eye lid but for some reason people get a bit about it in the UK. I guarantee the people who are about it have never been in a position where they genuinely have no options left though.

Mine would always have it in ice cream syrup - apparently the raspberry one is the bestest.

Would she eat something claggy like peanut butter or jam that takes a bit of concentrated swallowing? My 2 never liked the texture.

Suppositories are awesome for kids but unfortunately very few antibiotics come as suppositories (even in France).

There is no reason in principle why antibiotics could not be given as suppositories; the problem is that they are not manufactured in this form and so are unavailable.

I was given some very bitter antibiotics for my ds. Didn't realise how awful and lingering the taste was.

I mixed the dose with the gloopiest bit of chocolate nesquik. It made for four syringes rather than one, but it did the Mary Poppins trick. And a chocolate coin straight after.

Better the sugar than the vomiting or refusal, i reckon.

Please do not make your own, OP! Absorption is not the same from the rectum as the upper gut. There is a serious risk of over- or (more likely) under-dosing.

We had to give suppository painkillers last week but held off ABs to see if he'd manage to get well himself. He did. Otherwise they'd have had to be suppository too.
