AIBU?

To not want my online dating profile shared with hundreds of 'associated' sites?

To clarify, it DOES state in the myriad of terms and conditions that the dating website 'may' share your information with 'associated' sites in order to 'maximise your chances of finding a partner'Hmm

I hold my hands up, I did not read all of the T&Cs when I signed up, and I suspect I'm in the majority there. But, if I join a dating website directly related to single parents, then its because I'm hoping to meet men in a similar situation, and avoid at least some of the scammers, players, time wasters etc that seem to inhabit the general dating websites.

don't want my profile copied onto Plenty More Fish and DatingWales and goodness knows where else, where the users are going to be completely random. But that's exactly what has happened.
I also emailed Customer (lack of) Support to ask for a list of their 'associated websites' that my profile was on, as NONE of the men I have chatted to have been from my website. I was given the spiel about how they are so kindly maximising my chances, and cleverly avoided telling me where the heck they have displayed me on t'interweb.
AIBU? (maybe a bit)

Can you take your profile down?

Yes, but I paid for one month and as I'm a mean old bag I want to get my 30 days worth. I just think it's a bit pants of these companies to do this sort of thing, I'm sure lots of people don't even know they are are on more than one dating website.

I would be annoyed too, is there any way of taking the profit down on the sites you don't want to be on?

Unfortunately, no. You can only cancel your subscription on the website that you actually sign up to. It's not too much of a problem, I've decided I won't be carrying on with it after March anyway, but just wondered what people's thoughts were on it.
It never occurred to me before I signed up that many of these lesser-known dating websites -for example, ones affiliated to newspapers or certain interest/hobby-specific websites- are actually all run by a huge 'mother ship' company, who could be handling hundreds of dating websites. In this case the parent company is Global Personals who I'm a bit Hmm about after I Googled them.
Won't be joining any dating sites run by them in the future ( If I bother at all!)

This happened to me! Joined a (paid subscription) dating site for over 40's and had all kinds of men from 20 odd upwards and God knows where messaging me. I was not impressed and did not understand. Only found out when I met up with one guy and he was from a completey different site.

If i had wanted my photo and profile splattered across all the free sites then Id have joined them.
