Baby's drinking cup - AIBU to ask about cleaning?

Sorry if this has been asked before and sorry if it's so obvious - Blush

Baby has a miracle 360 cup

I wash it every day in the dishwasher when she goes to bed. I'm worried about the bacteria that might be growing inside the cup as a result of recent news stories.

Is this the right way to do it? I'm worried as there are bound to be bits of the cup that never get totally dry.

How do you wash your baby's cup?

I think you only need to be a little concerned if you have a cup with a sealed valve that you can't get to to clean properly. All our beakers have valves that come fully apart so you can see it's clean. The ones that are on the news are those that are sealed units.

I occasionally sterilise both cups and plastic toys either with Milton tablets or dunking them in boiling water.

Some parents spotted the problem when they smelt the valve or drunk water from the beaker themselves (tasted off). So use your senses to check.

Oh and I put ours in the dishwasher too, on a hot setting. I even have a little basket that goes in the top drawer that I can put the little parts in.

We have one of those.
It comes apart completely - the little clear seal on the white bit and the pink rubber valve both come away for thorough cleaning.

If you're worried about the tiny holes give it a soak in Milton once a week but the dishwasher should be sufficient.

As PP said, it's the ones that don't break down which are a concern.

I didn't buy the cup you use because of Amazon reviews about mould. We just stuck to the bog standard Tommee Tippee cups then moved onto proper cups pretty quickly. They use sistema drinking bottles for night time water. People did find mould in these but Sistema released a video showing how to open the valve and clean properly.
