To still want to buy "younger girls" clothes for dd

She is 4 and already 115cm tall so I am buying 5-6 and really need 6-7 clothes for her. All the things we like in the younger girls section of next and sainsbury are for younger girls up to age 6 so she need older girls clothes which I don't like as much. Does anywhere do girls for older girls that are young and appropriate for a 4 year old?

Next's older girls section goes from 3 years old up to 16. My youngest is nearly 4 and I've started getting her clothes from the older girls part. Most of their stuff is appropriate for younger ones.

Have you tried H&M? Their stuff tends to come up long so is suitable for tall children.

My 4 year old is the same height. We buy him mainly stuff from Scandinavian or German brands.

I've a 7 year old and wish the 'younger child' stuff went older. The older child's too grown up and boring.

She mainly wears dresses and leggings because on the waist hip problem and also she doesn't really like jeans - she only likes leggings which is worse with a too short tunic/t shirt. There is something about her proportion - long body I suspect that make tops look really short.

H and m have all the younger girls stuff until 10. Boden do too, until 11 -12 I think.

The m and s or next older girls stuff is mostly quite young child focussed so just as good.

My DD is a tall 7 - more than 125 cm but I don't know exactly. Too young for teenage clothes anyway!

Try Lands End

Quite a lot of their clothes feature in both their 'little girls' and 'girls' ranges, so you should be able to find designs that work for 4yos in bigger sizes.

Lands End 'little girls' is age 4 to age 6/7 so it could well be the sort of thing you're looking for. They look like children's clothes, not mini-adults.

Some stuff from there seems to have climbed in price, but always worth having a look at what's in the sale.

Have you tried Mini Boden ( online). Their kids stuff goes up to age 11-12. It is pricey but if you shop in the sales or buy from their outlet on Ebay it is a lot cheaper. If you become a regular customer they sometimes send gift vouchers/ discount codes. I buy most of my dd's stuff this way although she has just about grown out tof the kids stuff.

I have tall children too. I do find I usually have to spend a bit more, but I would say it is definitely easy enough to find nice stuff up to 128 cm tall, which is age 8 - lots of ranges go up that far.

I buy from Boden, Vertbaudet, Benneton, Esprit, Lands End, John Lewis. H&M occasionally. I like Frugi, but find it is too baggy on my DC, and I like Fat Face, but since they start at 4-5, maybe they are not what you are looking for.

We had a lot of Lands End for Dd who is also tall for her age, they do run big and lasted her ages. She wears age 14/15 now in school uniform and is still wearing a Lands End big kids gilet and a Jacket in the biggest size 12 I think it was.

We had the same issue, lived Sainsbo's younger girls stuff but the older girls stuff seems more appropriate for 10yos than 5yos. We now get quite a bit from John Lewis.

YA so NBU!! I really love some of the stuff for younger girls, especially in Next. All the jersey dresses and quirky t shirts etc and I'm so sad that my 6 year old is now rapidly growing out of it all. I also find the older girls stuff can be a bit too grown up. Lots of trendy slogan tops and cats on everything, and I'm not ready for it yet! I have to watch my pennies too, so all the lovely things from Boden etc are out of my price range really. But I do agree with other posters h and m are great size wise.

I have the same problem with Sainsburys - lots I like in 4-5, but now DD is 5, the selection is poor. Watching suggestions with interest, as Sainsburys was my go to shop for tops and leggings.

Unfortunately the problem continues and is just as bad for boys. I've a 13yr old dd and 10 yr old ds; look at loads of places intermittently compared to very occasional clothing purchases! Suspect I'll be making clothes for my daughter to get decent fit and clothes that actually suit her and are vaguely age appropriate over the next few years ...

Your only options are the more expensive places like Boden, Fat Face John Lewis etc. The cheaper shops all go for the older look.

Boots 'Mini Mode' are lovely and younger in style. I think they go up to age 6-7 now.
