AIBU?

To feel like he's taking the piss

Dd went to a party last night with exh family. She tells me he spent the night showing her off, saying how lovely she is to his friends and family and how proud he is of her. I could feel myself getting angry, he's paid £150 in maintenance since July 2014 (and that was in Dec 2014), not a penny since. He hardly ever sees her, probably once every 3 months or so. She has a disability and whilst it could be a lot worse she needs constant supervision so she doesn't get hurt (she's almost 14 just to put that into context) he's never do much as been to a hospital appointment. His mum picked Dd up last night and had to be told 4 times what time she needed her medication. He's never been to anything at school and takes no interest in her education at all despite knowing she struggles and I'm working my arse off to send her to a private school so she can get more one to one attention and hopefully do well. Aibu to want to tell him to fuck off? How dare he be proud of her? What has he contributed to her to be proud? Sorry rant over ......

Quite clearly he has been unreasonable and you have the right to be angry with him but what would you rather he did at this party, ignore her or be mean to her? Surely making a fuss of her was a better option.

Think of your dds feelings - you don't actually know for sure what he did or said. She probably knows he is a crap dad by the fact he doesn't see her often or takes no interest in school etc. So she may be exaggerating to make herself feel good. P

He is clearly a disneydad. But take the pride in his daughter for what is actually means. YOU are doing a great job.
