They appear to be doing it mainly in Sandstone and then a massive red brick bit at back

Am I missing something about building techniques and it will somehow look nice at the end? Because they want over half a million for it and I'm bewildered as to who will pay it.

My house (1970s built) doesn't look nice from the outside but makes up for it inside - it doesn't worry me very much because I spend very little time looking at the outside.
I was very taken aback by a local woman who said how much she loved it, when I casually said that if I had loads of money I would render it! So there really is something for everybody.
(Of course, if I was building something brand new now I would want it to be pretty)

The planner has been VERY strict as he wants naice houses. In fact the planner is a pita as he's so finicky.

It's called a Character cottage by estate agents There's a set in the next town. Why anyone would design houses that look like 2 floor nuclear bunkers is beyond me, but someone, somewhere obviously thought it was a good thing.

Right, these are the houses being built. In the red brick and the hand made sandstone brick stuff.

Behind me they appear to be doing the front, one side and half the rear in sandstone, and the other side and rear arse end in red brick. I couldn't get a brilliant picture as I had to hide upstairs.

I don't HATE it. Mind you, I don't actively love the outside of our new house, but it's perfect for us on the inside, which is the main thing.

Are they definitely part of the same house? I live on a Persimmon estate and some of the giant houses as bizarrely arranged so as to be semi detached. V odd why you'd want a huge house that isn't detached and has a tiny garden.

No, I do hate it, now I've had a proper look at how different the colour of bricks/stone is. Could the bricks at the back be the inside skin of the wall? And the outside skin will be the fake stone?

It's definitely all one house. 4 bedroom. At the bargain starting price of £529'000. Don't think it can be a skin as the door and window frames are in now.


See, I think either or in the pictures looks lovely, but that would annoy me if it were mine. I can't imagine the planners seen it either .... The spec shows it as all sandstone.

I don't understand why someone would pay that for a newbuild which is overlooked. For that money, there should be proper space between houses.

My house (1980s converted bungalow) 8s fugly on the outside (nice inside though), but then it costs a lot less than that one so I don't mind so much!
