AIBU?

AIBU to think BIL should know or find out DD name?

Card came from BIL today. Written inside 'to Blerg, BlerghDH and little one'.

Knowing him it is because he couldn't remember her name. Why couldn't he text one of his parents or GF to check?

DD is 2. He's met her about 7 times and she is the only child in a very small family so not like they are vague relatives. And he seems terrified of her touching him so that might be why I'm Hmm about this. I know not everyone loves children, fine, but knowing a name isn't too high effort is it?

So AIBU?

To clarify I'm not fuming. Just wondering if expectations too high really!

My bil is like this, remembers our elder dd's names, but not our younger dt's. Although he did text us on their birthday to ask how to spell their names.

Meh. At least he sent a card. Wouldn't really bother me tbh.

A neighbour addressed a card to the two little ones, I assume as she can't recall their names. Similarly I have addressed a card to neighbour and girls as I am not sure of the spelling of her DD's names.

Although I agree it's pretty lame of BIL.

Yanbu if he has form for it but I think it could possibly be that that is how her refers to her, I know sometimes when texting family or friends I sometimes ask how their little monkeys/little ones/the boys are doing? I could reel off their full names and birthdays in a flash though, it doesn't mean I can't remember their name.
Do he use her name when he does see her?

I suspect that the BIL isn't the type of use that sort if 'cute' wording though.

😳 turns out I'm a terrible person. Just read front of card - all our names are on there 😳

As you were!

Maybe he's not sure of the spelling? I'd be happy that he sent a card.

I do. I will confess to DH later. Also I have bought BIL a lovely thoughtful gift.
