To not be in a christmas mood?

This year I am really not in a "festive season" sort of mood... The weather is too warm ... but we have not had proper sun for a week now, (overcast skys). We are waiting for things to happen re a new business launch so we are stuck in limbo... We don't have children (long story) so no child focused "big day".... Also suffer from winter depression... We are with relatives on Christmas day itself so no need to prepare a feast..

Just not in the mood..

Please accept my apologies if you are lucky enough to be looking forward to Christmas..

I've said more or less the same for over 20 years.
I'm now actually doubting there is a "Christmas mood" to be honest. I was hoping having a child may reignite any sense of festive joy, it hasn't.
It's annoying and I believe that the majority of people force a certain amount of Christmas spirit so as to put on a front.
Even my 2.6yo doesn't seem that bothered, but I think that's more because she doesn't quite 'get ' it yet.

For the 1st time since I was a child I was in the mood for Christmas: my house was trimmed up, all gifts bought & wrapped, planning for our 1st Christmas dinner at our own house with just us and our dc; we were really looking forward to it. My step-dad died the other day and all that excitement has vanished so now I'm left just going through the motions trying to keep it happy for my children.

Jeavecike...

Under those circumstances... you have every justification to not feel in a festive spirit.
