To only have sympathy for the poor door..

Anyway, after putting up with our upstairs neighbour of a few months coming home at 2am on weekends, shrieking in the hallways, having the police called out by others due to an incident where one female friend of hers insisted she was pushed down the stairs (this was a whole other thread) , stomping about in her flat banging doors and playing loud music, I finally called noise control after myself and my baby we're working at 2 this morning by her again. After calming my baby down and going back to bed myself, the music started vibrating my bedroom ceiling and my Dh returned home from work, very tired and he too agreed, enough is enough.
The noise team had gone home when I called at 4am so ok no problem I thought, I'll call non emergency police. They were out within 15 mins, the music was still blaring. They banged her door for about 20 minutes to no response, so they broke the door open.
Her and a pal were inside steaming drunk, seemingly unaware of the distress they have been causing. so now she will wake up this morning, sober up and realise that she now has to contact her landlord and tell him his door needs replacing.
This was her final chance, after the last time the police came out she was apparently very apologetic (the police mans words, I haven't met her) but this was obviously not the case. I pay my rent just like everybody else in the building and I deserve to get a sleep at nights.
I have no issue whatsoever with people coming home late and going to their flat, people walking about etc, that is to be expected. I myself used to come home about 11/12 some nights but I was conscious people would be in bed and kept noise to an absolute minimum. This was totally ridiculous however.
Sore head and a broken door for her this morning..

I felt guilty when they burst her door open (she is still able to close it and lock it, I checked, but it will still need repaired) because if I woke up steaming and strange men had loudly come into my flat I would be very very frightened and feel so vulnerable. She was very cheeky to the officers apparently but not enough to arrest her the officer said. But as I explained to him, I don't want anybody arrested, I just want this noise to stop. Hopefully she has learned that she needs to calm it down. By all means go out and enjoy your weekend, I would if I didn't have my baby! But you have to respect other people if you live in a flat, and unfortunately she didn't

She sounds silly and immature. Maybe when the landlord comes to change the door and hand her her notice to move, she will realize how silly.

I think considering this is the second time the police have had to be contacted, the landlord will probably be handing her a section 21...
She is the only person in the whole building that causes any problems, that I am aware ok, so I will not be sorry to see her go.

Yanbu, the police probably broke in because she is known to them. There is unlikely to have only been one incident. Bet other things have happened away from the flat.

If this was a one off I wouldn't of done anything. You do know that you can never have a party, group of friends over for a few drinks ect now.

The landlord may issue a Section 21 to leave at the end of the contract (could be 12 months) if he gives a shit about what you think and isn't worried about losing rent. If he keeps having to arrange the door to be fixed he may consider it more carefully. He may be mates with the tenant or her family or he may be worried about getting another tenant and depending on the rent to pay his mortgage and the mortgage on the flat. If the tenant refuses to leave once the Section 21 has expired then you could be in for a loooong process with the tenant having nothing to lose.

I suggest you keep a diary and memorise the noise people's number.

Perhaps what is needed is an 'anonymous' tip-off from another resident to the landlord to say that the police had to break into the flat, and the door is now damaged?!!

She whispers too loud just get straight back on the phone to hem.. So he obviously wasnt bothered that we called. He told us if it happens again it will get taken very seriously.
BrandNew if you read my post, the police have been called out before because of one of her parties. And with a 9mo baby I doubt I will be having a flat party any time soon.
My friends do come over but we don't screech in the hall, blast the tv/music etc.. Bit of a difference. So I'm not worried.

Dodo we have informed our landlord because she knows this woman's landlord so he will be finding out soon enough. I think the police contact the landlord anyway to say they had to break his door.

The landlord might not get her to leave if she's otherwise looked after the property and pays her rent on time. If he uses an agency then he's going to lose a month's rent at least in agency fees for her leaving and then finding her tenants.

I don't care if she leaves tbh I just want her to shut the fuck up at 2am lol. I think the police breaking down your door at 5am would wisen you up a bit. I could be wrong but hope not.

Her landlord came to see me yesterday, he was very decent and told me that he was going to see her after he had spoke to me, and he was telling her that if she got one more complaint she would be out. So hopefully she doesn't fuck up her final chance.

Bless you. I certainly couldn't have lasted as long as you did and would have contacted my council officers the 2nd or 3rd time it happened. Loosing sleep is shit. Loosing sleep when you have a baby is worse

The landlord may not be able to legally get them out quickly.

It's his flat he can serve an eviction notice or not renew her contact. The door repair will cost almost half her deposit money.
