How do people cope with these?

Firstly it isn't me, its for a family friend, who has asked me for advise.

About a year ago, they suffered from really bad panic attacks, this went on for around 6 months, to cut a long story short they got a little help (psychologist, 4 sessions) and managed to beat them. However the last few days they have feared they are returning. They have come to me for some advice, however I'm a little unsure what to say.

They describe them as just little mind games which spiral slightly out of control and can be very hard to deal with sometimes. Having never had any mental health issues like this myself i find it hard to imagine what they are going through and therefore not knowing what advice to offer.

I know this day and age mental health is a real big issue and was just wondering if anyone has any help or advice to offer my friend. They don't see medication as answer right now, as they want to stop them before they get started again.

Thank you for any comments or advice in advance. MJF's friend

Would suggest this thread is in the wrong place. The MH board might be a better place.

Your friend could google "self help for panic/anxiety", she could go to her GP, she could refer herself to IAPT, she could pay for therapy.

It's about learning coping techniques.

I find on very bad nights a sleeping tablet helps as I sleep it off rather than my mind taking over.
