So, after 10 years of a LTR / marriage I am back on the dating scene.

Was asked out by a man I met at a work conference. He seemed lovely so I thought why not. We went for drinks, had a fab evening. He got in contact and arranged drinks again.
Couple of hours into drinks (round two) he asks me 'so are you coming back with me tonight?'

I just looked at him and said 'No'. He was serious and not joking.

I'm not a prude. I've done one night stands when younger and am not averse to another one. Grin

But AIBU to be stunned that this seems to be the world of dating now??? Shock

This is not the world of dating.

It's just one bloke.

How did he respond?

He took it on the chin and seemed to think the chase was on. Little bit off putting to say the least though....

Some men have always tried their luck - it's nothing new.

If it was me, and I fancied the bloke, I'd shag him. I really don't see what was wrong with him asking.

They will try to be cheeky doesn't mean you have to go along. If you want a one night stand, go for it. If you want it to be more long term, give the guy the chance to fall for you - which means making him wait much longer! Have a read of "the rules" for women. Worked for me.

I haven't read that book for YEARS!

Hmmm. The guy is hot. He's a tree that needs climbing. It's just it's the first new one in 10 years....that's a long time of not being naked in front of a random guy

It's entirely possible that he thinks you're so hot he couldn't help himself. Good luck!

YANBU, I'm in your camp and would think it was quite cheeky/forward but it wouldn't put me off a guy if I liked him. Did he seem unwilling to wait til you're ready? That's the bottom line I guess.

tiffany oh no he took it on the chin and has been in touch since to arrange drinks again.

The chase mode is well and truely engaged.

YABU!

Personally I like to get where I'm sleeping that night sorted out about half hour into the first date if it's going well.

What are you waiting for? Make like a monkey and climb him.
