to get the rage when people go the wrong way in carparks

I get the rage at people getting the rage about this- not everyone is familiar with the road layout of your supermarket.

If it's an unfamiliar supermarket, when you pull out of your space, you don't always know if it's one way or 2 and if it is only one way then which way it is.

There's a one way section in my local supermarket and the sheer number of people I meet coming the wrong way. They don't want to move over and look ever so puzzled when you point out they're in the wrong.
I have also met the odd person coming the wrong way down a one way street too. Clearly the big NO ENTRY signs weren't enough of a clue for them.

So you look at the signs and the road markings, just like you would on an unfamiliar road. And if you get it wrong, you move over and apologise!

I go the wrong way in our supermarket car park all the time, otherwise I would have to go all the way around the outside of it (really long narrow carpark) to reach the entrance which way about ten feet from where I usually park. The design is ridiculous.

I wait until there are no other cars or people around.

Bear, Surely when you went into the space you knew which way you drove down the road, and observed whatever sign/road marking on the way in, so just go the same way on the way out.

I can cope with someone going the wrong way IF they acknowledge they were wrong and pull over to let you past them, or they do the reversing if that's required. Everyone makes mistakes but don't expect me to go out of my way to accommodate them. I wouldn't say it gave me rage, but you'd probably cause something muttered under my breath along the lines of observation, attention, idiot and it's not that hard. I wouldn't get out and shout though, that's unnecessary.

what I get the rage about are people who join a clockwise queue of cars waiting for a car ahead to reverse in in our local Tesco carpark, spot a space that's come free in the 'wrong' direction, then deliberately drive the wrong way round at 30 mph to nip it to the space before the queue of cars starts moving again. Because we all like queuing FOR FUN.

I go to lots of different supermarkets and certainly don't always remember, after I've been shopping for an hour or so, which way I drove in and if it was one way or not- particularly if you've had to circle around looking for a space- better things to fill my brain with!

I got to the last decent space just as a woman come hooning the wrong way around the car park to try and beat me to it. She ended up squeezing up a corner.
Made me smile though as it was Tesco car park and she was wearing her staff uniform.

Doesn't bother me especially though.

Or, possibly, it's a clever design to put accessible spaces next to the pedestrian entrance, but a long drive from from the car entrance to stop lazy ignorant fuckers people abusing them.

I did this in IKEA the other day. In my defence the arrows are very worn and faded. However I still felt like a right numpty.

YABU OP, sometimes people make mistakes. You have to allow for human error. As long as they aren't razzing around like it's Brands Hatch then I think you should give them the benefit of the doubt.

Or, using LH's example, we sometimes drive the wrong (quicker) way to the bb spaces to make sure an ignorant cunt doesnt get there before us and leave me unable to get out of the car.

YANBU. I can understand people doing it accidentally but we used to have a car park in our local Sainsbury's where people would do it deliberately because they just couldn't be arsed to follow the arrows.

There are two near me that I often go the wrong way round. One is actually quite confusing and not well marked that it is one way. I know now so I'm more careful. The other one is quite a long way round to get to your space so if it's quiet I just nip round the wrong way. I often see drivers going the wrong way in these car parks so I'm not alone.

The supermarket itself is in the middle of the long narrow car park (there are vehicle entrances at both ends) and it has several pedestrian entrances. It's just a crap design.

I use the end I do because you have to drive round the whole town centre to get to and from the other one.

it's more that whenever it happens to me the person is always in the middle and always refuses to move over. it's annoying...

what I do wonder though is where insurance stands with this? if I round a corner and hit someone going the wrong way head on, who is at fault?

This happens a lot at my local supermarket. Only one one-way lane (all the rest are 2 way) with huge no entry signs you cannot miss. All the P&C spaces are on the last half of this lane so you get lots of people entering the no entry to get an empty P&C space ahead of those who have driven the long way round.

I did this a while ago (I was having a very bad day anyway) and a man got so irate he followed me around the car park beeping, eventually getting out of his car, coming over and opening my car door to berate me. Big bastard too, scared the shite out of me.

It's a slight annoyance, it doesn't warrant rage.
