Arghhhhhhhh!

Sick to bloody death of phoning them, 2 months of being kept on hold for stupid amounts of time (anything up to an hour every time before I give up!) how the hell am i supposed to arrange to pay my outstanding tax bill from an underpayment last tax year if nobody answers the pissing phone!!!???

The letter says it will be collected by reducing tax free amount during the next tax year. Well good luck with that, i resigned in December and became a SAHM!

Is there an email address anybody knows of? Carrier pigeon? Paper aeroplane!?

Try Saynoto0870 for an alternative number, that may help?

Oh Chunks, they are so bad I don't know whether to laugh or cry. My brother died very suddenly just after Christmas, they were one of the agencies notified under the 'do it once' protocol. Their response? To issue a £100 fine for late filing of self assessment tax return. I appealed, but being dead isn't on their list of acceptable excuses - and they can't actually speak to me because their backlog means that the very earliest they could read my letter would be May.

It's now June...........

As if the grief isn't hard enough to deal with!

If you know how much you owe, can you not just do a bank transfer?

Ignore it. If they have coded it then it isn't due yet (on their system).
Do you do a tax return? If so it will show as due on the tax return for the year they have coded it into. If you don't then leave it to them, they will keep coding or show it as due eventually.

They send you a letter usually about 12 months after you were expecting to pay but they didnt take it...

Just to say I rang hmrc at 8.30 this morning and got through to a human at 9.00. Still ridiculous, but much better than when I tried ringing at my lunch break. I think they open at 8 am. Good luck

I don't even bother trying to call them anymore, especially at this time of the year.

I write to them (recorded) with my query, and ask them to phone me. They usually do, in fairness.

I've just had dealings with them and they were great! Always answered the phone, only made one fuck up (sorted), let me pay in installments!
