I discovered mice in the under sink cupboard in kitchen - food recycle bin. Put traps down, caught some, dh taught me to empty them blergh as he works away. After catching a few dh thought problem solved i wasnt because that little foam insulation balls from inside walls kept appearing near the traps.
tonight one ran along sitting room wall (nearly cried). Put trap straight down and caught it 30 mins later. So stripped sittingroom down and cleaned floor (droppings around walls and under sofa sofa - not loads but enough and scraps of plastic). This then sent alarm bells ringing as there are scraps of plastic on the stairs and upstairs hall - carpet brown so hard to see droppings but couldn't see any.
Went into one of my dc room and found droppings (about 8/9 in a corner and along a wall). I had checked the room when first found the mice but guessing there's more or they are on the move. Then I had a sneaky cry. I can't sleep now as freaked out.
I'm going to get poison tomorrow and put it in the airing cupboard which is in boys room - they can't reach in and under kitchen units. I can't work out how they are moving about. Iv filled all the holes I can see and I'm going to strip boys room tomorrow

TBH if there are mice then they are many! When I was little we had mice, trapped 32 within 2 days! Don't get upset, don't panic but there are probably more. Put traps in all ares where there is food and also where droppings have been seen, check the oven (we caught loads of the buggers in there). It will be over soon, just prepare yourself for more before it is over. Good luck 
Well if it makes you feel better I read the other day that if you have mice, you won't have rats, because the rats drive out the mice no idea if that is true though.
I once came home to be greeted by a horrified dh. He'd pulled out ds's bed to look at the radiator valve and seen loads of mouse droppings. I asked how big and he held up his finger and thumb about 5cm apart. "Argh (I cried) if they are that big we have a rat!". Well dh bravely let me go off to deal with it, and I started dragging dust covered toys out from under ds's bed. Nothing was chewed - very strange. I didn't find anything until I had almost disappeared headfirst under the bed and then I did. The 'droppings' were dead woodlice! Bloomin' dh and his dodgy eyesight!
Obviously the stuff under the bed was in dire need of a good clear out 
but I'd rather have done it while not in fear of mutilation by giant rodent.
YANBU - mice are irritating and its a lot of work to get rid of them and clean up after them. Mice and rats are nothing to do with each other. If you have one it doesn't mean you have the other.
If you have loads of them it might be better to get in a pest control company - if not at least make sure you had a really good Google. Not all mice bait is the same. Have a Google about which ones are best.

Ha they locked the cats out to save the mouse. The girls caught it eventually with a glass.
Daft as brushes but soft hearted.
