AIBU?

To think Silent Witness is ridiculously far fetched now

Just watched this weeks Silent Witness- wtf?

In the Amanda Burton days they worked out how the victim died from the body- now the 2 main characters run around like Dempsey & Makepeace interviewing relatives and generally acting like police.

I know it's only tv but surely it should have an attachment to reality?

I said exactly the same when we were watching it. Real loife Pathologists wouldnt get involved in half the stuff they do on Silent Witness! Its like they think they are on CSI or something.

yes.
but I still like it :)

I'd love to have been a pathologist but I'm way too squeamish but I used to love Silent a Witness as it fascinated me.

Now it's just stupid although I will probably still watch it

DH and I have this conversation every single time we watch it.

Still like it though

I thought that, especially this week" to be fair, I want watching it closely, but I couldn't work out which were police and which pathologists.

Wasn't watching it closely.

Yes it's very silly but who cares? Just suspend your disbelief, relax and enjoy it.

What happened to Leo, by the way? I missed that one.

It's ok to pass time but the guy with the incredibly pointy nose gets right on my tits.

We always say the same.but I still love it.! I like that the story is over two consecutive nights too so we don't have to wait a week to find out the ending.

I wish Harry was still in it though Sad

Leo was blown up by a terrorist bomb.

It is more far fetched than it used to be but I still watch it.

Watched for first time. What nonsense. They are all so obviously actors. Plus weirdly needlessly aggressive to each other that pr woman was the most laughable character I've seen for a while.

I prefered the older episodes too. The last one really annoyed me!

Plus the entrapment of the killer at the end, surely even if they were the actual police they couldn't do that?

They are all so obviously actors

And it's so obviously a TV show!

Oh, wait ....

I love the way that Jack and Nicky wear full protective clothing at the crime scene, but the police who are there just wander round contaminating everything!.

It's gone all CSI, they get involved in everything - bloody stupid

Agree. I said exactly the same thing to DH! Not nearly enough of the episode is spent in the morgue. I read Patricia Cornwell novels with Kay Scarpetta and she oversteps the detective/forensic medical examiner boundary.

Enjoyed it though so I don't know if it matters to me per se.

DH and I were saying the same when we watched it. Used to be really good a few series back when both harry and Leo were in it. Last years series was crap and I nearly didn't bother watching this weeks. That said I did find it watchable and thought the storyline was better than any in the last series. Good to get the storyline done and dusted in two consecutive nights too.

You mean it's not a documentary showing the everyday working lives of pathologists Shock. Ah bugger.

I know they are actors but in most decent dramas they are at least marginally convincing. This lot were just obviously luvvies so stilted and obviously saying their lines unlike say homeland where the acting is excellent. Seen more convincing performances in made in Chelsea

It was like that with Amanda Burton though! I remember one episode where she suddenly became a helicopter/ helicopter crash expert - in fact it's become a bit of a running joke chez Concrete. She definitely didn't stick to pathology (like that wouldn't be impressive enough).

I hadnt seen it since the fit one left Blush but I did watch last week's on iPlayer. It seemed to be even more far fetched than usual, that said I was more shocked that they had shown an episode with a sniper given the events of the day

Yes it's far fetched, but it's also television.....didn't think anyone was actually taking it seriously? We really enjoyed it, still made me jump!
