The washing machine is 12 years old today. I mentioned this to the dc this morning and one thing led to another, and we've ended up having a lovely birthday tea with cake and candles and balloons. Is this totally odd or just a little bit?

MIL has significant birthdays for her car. It is supposed to deflect from thinking she'll be having any significant birthdays herself...

I think a whole street party is in order - I can't get a washer to last more than 3 years in this house!! What is your secret?!

I have never had a party for a machine, but we did once have a birthday tea for one of DD's teddies. It was a fun day of baking and paper decoration making. We had a brilliant day, and it livened up the wet holidays.

Our Build a Bears have Halloween & Christmas outfits (and stockings), birthday parties & we've even had a wedding - complete with human guests, afternoon tea & wedding cake.

So I'd have to say no, YANBU Grin !

Littleprincess we would have had a street party in the summer. We gave some cake to our neighbour (who spotted the happy news on Facebook) and to the hermes delivery driver (who probably thought there was weed in the cake once he'd ascertained that washing machine wasn't a quirky nickname for one of the dc).

I think it's hard for washing machines with birthdays so close to Christmas - perhaps we'll do a party in the summer as well when the weather's bettet.

Happy birthday dragons washing machine. Yanbu. This machine has been with you for 12 years and giving you the best years of its life. My car bleeps at other s in same brand (no external noise is heard) to say hi and has a huge personality and dont get me on a certain soft animal.... (Pours another glass of wine...)
