AIBU to think that these people who are selling the penguins Monty and Maybel from John lewis at ridiculous prices are being comply out of order?
I've been desperately trying to get them for ds but every John lewis is sold out, i'm disabled so cannot go to John lewis alone as I need to be pushed in my wheelchair and now I've got someone they are all sold out!Angry
people are so bloody greedy, looked on ebay expecting to maybe pay double but omg most are upwards of £100, greedy horrible people. fair enough make a profit but the prices are extortionate.
shame on John lewis for not getting anymore in (according to customer services) season of goodwill my arse!!

Yabu JL will have made a massive profit from them so why not someone else? Tbh wish I'd had the foresight to buy a few myself

Could you not have ordered online before they sold out?
Personally I wouldn't get sucked into buying the most marketed toy of the season

John Lewis have been crap here. They really have. I was told 2 weeks ago that Monty & Mabel would be in-store in 5-6 days but on-line sooner. NO. Not for sale in either place. And actually considering that the fluffy penguins on sale in JL look nothing like the Monty and Mabel of the advert - really any toy fluffy penguin would do. To be honest, I wouldn't buy them from e-bay (don't want to be ripped off), and now I won't buy from JL either. Novelty worn off... otherwise I was up for the biggest Monty and Mabel going. JL loss really.

People are greedy, but they always were and always will be.

If you really want them look on the website continually, but I agree with ILoveSimon the ones on the website look nothing like the ones on the advert. My DH brought my kids penguins back from the Falklands years ago that look more like the ones from the advert.

You could adopt him a penguin through the WWF. He'd get a cuddly penguin in a pack and then updates through the year. I adopted my 2 an elephant and a panda in the past, they loved it.

It's not Month or Mabel, but it's helping animals and the environment instead of lining JL's and greedy bugger's pockets.

Do children really want a penguin from an advert that much? (Happy to be corrected!) I thought it was aimed at adults. Can't you just find him a lovely penguin toy from somewhere else?

Yabu - John Lewis seems to be selling loads of crap with penguins on, with a massive mark up as part of their advertising campaign. I second going down the WWF route and adopting a penguin, it's a lovely gift with a lovely message behind it and you will still get a toy penguin.

I think I saw something in the Christmas topic about a zoo shop selling toy penguins online that were pretty similar to the adverts. London zoo maybe?
