I am SICK of British TV adverts.

Everyone gushing about how they made them sob. Or blub.

Everyone talks about which ad made them cry this year Angry

Sobbing is a good thing, you see.

If a big company can touch your heart, you will get your wallet out.

Cynicism knows no boundaries.

It is not sweet, or cute, it is Christmas as a Capitalist Feast stuffed down our throats. Go! Go! and spend money you don't have! Go stuff your faces! Gorge yourself! Go on! it's Christmas!

Spend Spend Spend!

And it is only the first half of November. I think I could cope if it was mid December, but 6-7 more weeks of this ....AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH

I will have to get rid of my TV...

But the little boy who went through the year with his penguin is sooo cute. I must prefer watching that to some of the ads. Maybe a little early but its november not august. Still think the best xmas ad ever was that john lewis one with little boy counting down the days till xmas.

YANBU. But just do what I do, and turn over/mute it/turn off the television. It's all a load of bollocks. I pity anyone who gives a flying fuck about JL's mawkish, manipulative Christmas adverts and think they probably need a bit more going on in their lives.

Love Christmas adverts. Love having my heart strings pulled. Love John Lewis.

My Grandad who is now long gone, always used to say the adverts were the best thing on TV which is the only reason he'd have it on way back in the 70's and 80's.

Not sure any of us are going to spend spend spend because of a few adverts.

My DD asks for every other thing that comes on TV, I tell her the TV will go off if she keeps asking or I just smile laugh and walk away hoping she'll forget soon enough.

Don't watch TV, but I've recently seen the JL one and I have no idea why anyone thinks it's even remotely interesting. Hmm

Although it will pull in a lot of money as I've already seen people carrying penguin stuffed toys about town. That's what it's all about, drawing people in and getting them to spend, so I suppose they've done their job.

YANBU. Give me a good ad any day of the week. Makes me feel proper Christmassy. Sentimental sob-fests over stuffed penguins leave me cold, but Anita Harris as ringmaster is irresistible. Lead me to your flat-pack hi-fi units!

Who are sparkle and menace?

As long as the advert doesn't involve Peter Andre, Fiona Phillips, fungal toenails, or someone pretending to surprise people on their doorstep so they can talk about cleaning products, I don't really mind them at the moment.

Sainsbury's advert completely gutted me last night. It hasn't made me want to shop with them, but oh my god it had me sobbing.

I'm not overly keen on the John Lewis one. The penguins are cute but it's not really very Christmasy.

I love the Christmas adverts, love the JL ad. I watched the sainsburys ad and thought it was very moving and prompted me not to buy for myself but to donate to our local food bank this morning.

If you don't like the Christmas ads record your programmes and fast forward them or just turn over - problem solved!
