AIBU?

Copying a present idea

A friend texted me to go halves on a present for another friend. I have already bought something and told the 1st what it was - a Cath Kidson gift set.
Got another text today asking what exactly I had bought as she was going to buy said Birthday Girl a Cath Kidson pressie too???
I know it's a first world problem, but really?? BUY SOMETHING ELSE?
Am I being unreasonable to be a BIT miffed by this or have I too much time on my hands?

Haha, you are not being unreasonable that does sound a bit odd. But don't get miffed about it, just text back, saying, 'that's a bit weird, why would you buy her the same pressie, are you struggling for ideas'?
Having said that, CK sell all sorts of products, so maybe she just thought, oh great now I know that friend likes CK, so I'll just get her something from there. She's prob not thought about it in terms of 'copying'.
Either respond directly or let it go, you're right it is a FWP, no point getting annoyed.

I would take that to mean she wants to get a CK thing too but not the same thing. Something so your presents could work well together as a set. I don't think that's weird at all.

I find it so hard to buy for people and was just a little bit smug when I texted that I had already got a present. I should have confronted her but I'm too passive/agressive, and couldn't think of 'are you struggling for ideas'. I'll have to remember that one if I ever gloat about my present buying abilities in the future! haha
Thanks for the sympathy - I can now let it go......
