At the job interview 3.5 weeks ago I was told the interviews would be complete by the end of the following week and the selections made soon after. The aim was the end of the month. Last week I was getting impatient and emailed one of the guys recruiting (I know him from working with him previously) and he said they were on target to complete the selection process by the end of the month and all applicants would be contacted. So that was obviously Monday but I've still not been contacted.I appreciate dates slip, they are filling several positions so things happen and people may have been offered jobs and not responded etc. but still very poor on their behalf to not send out an update especially as they know I'm awaiting the outcome. AIBU to chase again??

Check tomorrow, about 11 am. That will give them enough time to ring round, prevaricate and get back to you before anyone takes a Poets day.

That wouldn't be in anyway pushy. End of the week after the end of the month - their timescale!

Good luck.

They will contact the successful candidates first- chasing it up won't achieve anything. I'd carry on looking in your position.

I'm afraid I agree with bearbehind - if they're not falling over themselves to contact you, it's unfortunate but you're unlikely to be on their short list. Keep on looking and I hope the next one is the one for you Smile

If you haven't had a definite no, you may be a second choice so they're waiting for someone else to decide whether of not to accept the job. I would say wait until the start of next week.

As someone who's had to hire lots of people over the years I can tell you that all sorts of things happen to derail the process. The relevant HR person is off sick, the interview panel can't get a time in their diaries that works for everyone, there's a major crisis on a project, blah blah blah. Sometimes the employer is just a bit indecisive. Having said that, I must say that whenever we really wanted someone, we would always try to "keep them warm" while we got ourselves sorted out. If you haven't heard diddly squat from them, it's not a great sign.
However, if you are absolutely bursting to know one way or the other, then I suggest you ring up the guy you know and say this:
"As you know, I interviewed for X role X weeks ago and was told that I'd hear by X. As I still haven't heard anything, I'm getting the impression that I haven't been selected on this occasion. Am I off the mark?"
