Dd just fell back and pulled a chair she was using to stand up with ontop of her. This resulted in back of head and front of head bein banged :( it wasn't an awful bump (head didnt hit floor hard, but think her wee head is bruised. I ran to save her but couldn't. I now feel terrible or not watching her closely 100% of the time! Beating self up here big time :/
I need to toughen up I suspect!

Oh Blimey, how old is she? My dd was soooo accident prone between 1-2 she always had a new bruise/scratch, you'll get used to it :)

When they start cruising they are just scary. All you can do is watch and try to minimise the risk, which I'm sure you are doing already.

DD1 launched herself out of her high chair when she was about a year and gave herself a fabulous black eye - we took her into town for shoes a day or two later and reactions were clearly split between parents and non-parents, with only the latter giving us the cat's bum face...

Sounds like your DD is quite young? I'm afraid it will happen a lot. Thankfully kids are well designed to cope with knocks and bumps.

As with any head injury watch her for unusual sleepy ness or vomiting. From what you describe it wasn't too bad though.

To reassure you that you are far from alone, when my youngest was about 7 months old and in a spica cast for hip dysplasia (basically plaster cast trousers!) I was trying to put her in the car and was focussing so much on her legs I forgot about her head, and I banged it into the side of the car.

Don't beat yourself up about it (easier said than done I know) It happens to everyone, I can't even count the amount of times I have let my attention wander for a split second and dd is into something she shouldn't be.

Once I was changing her nappy and my phone rang as I was waiting for important news from the hospital (DH having surgery) I turned to grab my phone in a second dd was running across the room stark naked and ran full pelt into the wall almost bouncing off smacking the front and back of her head. She didn't do any harm other than a little bruise and scaring the life out of us both, but I was so angry at myself for not seeing that clearly this would happen.

Ahh don't worry too much. My 10 no is sporting two lovely forehead bruises from launching off the sofa onto the phone hasn't stopped him launching off everything!
