To order one in every colour?

Ok...so I just found out that I'm short enough to get away with a kid's white cane instead of an adut-sized one. Not only am I saving a tenner- but RNIB do them in cool colours!! WIBU to get one foe every outfit? I mean, there's a reason they don't sell them in adult sizes, huh?

Ooh I've never seen walking canes in different colours before, what a great idea! I like the yellow one, absolutely you should get them in every colour!

That sounds an amazing idea! An old family friend had a degenerative eye condition, and at the point he needed to get a cane decided e'd go for the funky one with the red end

He only realised what it meant when he took it out for the first time.

A red-ender!! Well, exactly! I'm thinking of writing to them and asking if they have plans to extend (oo-er) the coloured ones to adult sizes! My MIL claims that this would dwfeat the object of a white stick being a VI symbol... I disagree! I mean, if i 'm walking along with a stick, swinging it along the ground, it must be obvious what I'm doing, right?

Edu I won't have any of the RNIB kitchen equipment either, gor the same reason...it wouldn't match the decor! May be on to something here...

I think its pretty obvious what you're doing. Your mil is wrong. Different coloured canes are a fab idea. The idea needs to be extended to dog harnesses.

Definitely dog harnesses! Ooh maybe a value pack with the sun visors (yup...you guessed it...won't wear those either!), a symbol cane and a dog harness...am overthinking this, aren't i?

I think that if you did extend it to the harness people might get confused as other dogs do wear harnesses - albeit not with the handle bit - however the stick bit, I agree - if you're swishing a thin stick in front of you it is pretty obvious why. I think some patters - candy cane would be good - perhaps a liberty print for summer tea parties? You should also be able to get metalic coloured ones - or perhaps opalescent?

I've an assortment of walking sticks for different outfits, and a friend has a pair of rhinestone'd crutches - colourful white canes sound great!

But if it's a RNIB cane rather than a mobility aid stick , would the Great British Public be aware if it's not white what it is?

As a complete hi-jack.
Today there were some trainee guide dogs (they are often out and about here) mainly young labradors.

A group of young adults with Learning Difficulties were out shopping, chattering, noisy and obviously not so aware that they shouldn't distract the dogs.
The Trainee Dogs were a bit bamboozled, out of their depth at the en-mass noisy crowd.
But they got their Brave Faces on and carried on.

I think the red end signifies you are deaf as well as have visual impairment? I am pretty sure that is what red and white striped is?????

I think a red end is so that motorists can see a "flash" of red to warning. Ooh...patterns! Like a snakeskin one! Well buggar me gently, I'm gonna get my crayons out!

A thin pink stick with a red end...
