AIBU?

To wonder if it will ever be possible to become socially adept after a baby and how it might be done?

I've become so boring since having my two tiny children. I can barely maintain a conversation. I have a full time job and it's really apparent when talking to my colleagues that I've nothing to say that isn't mummy focused or totally mundane. How do people ever develop their conversational skills again?

Just take an interest in everything. Talk to everyone while you are out and about, the person in the supermarket queue, the dog walker etc. it is generally easy when you are out with children. Read books, keep up with the news, your hobbies - join something and have an evening away from the house. Get a babysitter- advertise or join a circle if you haven't got one- and go out with your DP once in a while.

Your priorities have changed... I now find TV talk, clubbing talk, fashion talk and so on boring!

I think it takes a while to adjust to being a mum, find your feet, work out what you do and don't give a fuck about, get your sleep back and regain your confidence as an individual, as a woman even after all the changes in hormones and your body. I think it takes time and lots of kindness to yourself...at the moment you probably barely have time for a bath in peace, let alone read a paper or be up to date with music, art etc. It's a process I think if that makes sense?!

Why have you started two threads asking the same thing on AIBU? Can you get one removed? I've posted in length on your other thread.

Read a newspaper or watch decent news once a day
