To think this a bit disturbing?

Driving through town earlier on a busy road and a man was standing at the side of the road with what looked like a bag of nuts or possibly seed throwing it onto the road. Husband and I both saw it and our first thought was that he was doing it to lure birds or squirrels onto the road. We just thought WTF? Just thought it was weird and a bit disturbing and was hoping there was a perfectly good explanation other than some weirdo trying to kill little animals.

It must be "throw random shit by the roadside day" today, saw a similar thing only the man was on a path by a roundabout throwing what could have been anything around from two tubs while his dog waited for him. I'm not local so not sure if it's a common occurrence here!

Very odd behaviour. Maybe he was drunk.
"Disturbing".??... Err no.
Disturbing is something much worse happening than this.

He probably had a mental illness.

Oddly if I saw some bloke lobbing peanuts into the road, my first thought wouldnt be that he was on a squirrel murdering spree, it would be that he was quite possibly 'touched'.

And I hold my head in my hands knowing 'touched' is so going to open the flood gate as to a non PC word.

Maybe a ghost, could be he was scattering it wherever he used to, prior to it being a road.

( I could have this theory because I'm watching a ghostly show on telly)

Not an uncommon way to bag a few roadkill pheasants if you don't have land to put traps down - in town it's more likely to be for pigeons. Don't know if it would work on squirrel - greys are surprisingly tasty though. Am sure it sounds a bit rank if yoi're not used to it, but don't underestimate the appeal of some hot roast meat when your budget only stretches to value beans!
