AIBU?

To hate anything to do with face painting.

I hate hate the queues. Dd is always nagging me to do hers. I HATE doing it, it drives me insane with boredom. I hate the way when you are standing in the interminable queue and it is nearly your turn, the person in front turns up suddenly with 500 more kids.

It's the invention of the devil

Especially when you have been in a queue for about two hours in the searing heat, and your lovely daughter decides she wants.... A daisy on her cheek. I could have done that with the lippy and eyeliner in my handbag, and I wouldn't have charged her £2.50. Yanbu.

YABU - loosen up a little. I think it's supposed to be a bit of fun. I think my dd looks cute when she's had it done, although is getting a bit older now, so not so bothered about it. You could alwys just say 'No, not today sweetheart!' And stick to it.

Aw, I used to love when my DCs had their faces painted. They're a bit old for it now but occasionally have it done in an "ironic" way. Cracks me up.

I bought some and do it myself. Quicker, cheaper and DS just as happy. Do it well though. Don't wanna embarrass them for the sake of being a tight wad (like me :o )

I hear you about pushing in the queues! I took my niece to a family fun day at a local attraction last summer and she wanted her face painted. No problem, there were about 6 people in the queue so we took our place at the end. Over the next 2 hours various kids kept running up to their designated queue person to see if it was their turn and then running off to play again. Then they would get called over when their person got to the front. It really annoyed me - if they were old enough to want their faces painted they were old enough to queue. If they got bored and wanted to do something else, fair enough, but then it's their decision not to have their face painted.

I did ask my niece a couple of times if she wanted to leave and do something else, but no she wanted to wait so we did. There was no way I would have said 'you go and play while I queue' though. She wanted it done so she had to queue!
