Ok, just finished my 2nd year of uni, I already volunteer for a charity which is close to my heart, but have been wanting to get some additional work experience which is more relevant to my future career plans.

I emailed someone who runs a couple of projects which are in my area of interest to ask if I could get involved. We spoke on the phone (she rang me on a private number) and she was very enthusiastic about me helping and said she would email me some information so that i could decide how best I could help her.

All very good, and I was getting excited.

A week later and she had not sent anything, so I sent a polite email, something along the lines of, hi, just letting you know I've freed up some time for the project and I'm excited to get started, when you get a minute could you send the information we discussed please?

Two weeks later and I have heard nothing.

WIBU to send her an email asking if she still needs me, or should I just take the hint and move on?

Does that mean you don't have her number? Can you call the office?

I ask because I just found a really important email in my junk folder; she might have an impenetrable spam filter.

Worst case, she changed her mind but at least you'll know.

Good luck

I don't have her number, I think I probably could track it down though.
Just feels like I'm harassing her if I do that.

She could be on holiday or ill. Find a general contact phone number for the organisation and ask to be put through to her.

Another voice saying put all your personal feelings aside and think about it.

She could be ill.
She could be on holiday.
The shit could be hitting the fan in many horrid ways at work.

It's not about you.
Resend email - make sure your subject heading is succinct and very clear about what you require.
Make sure you have "Re: work experience discussed on x date" as a heading (or something like that) in the body of your email.
Be positive. Absolutely do not give her grief or make any mention about non response. Avoid i've freed up time comment cos it comes across as peevish and entitled.

Reattach your spellchecked CV.

If she doesn't reply after that then you can bitch and move on.
